I wanted to share with you some apps that I have discovered. Check them out in your device’s app store and see which one helps you!
“TryPraying” is an app created to help those who are not religious and don’t pray (or haven’t prayed in awhile). The app encourages you to give praying a go for 7 days. Each day has a theme. Start with a short reading, a short video, some “wise words” to think about, and then guidance on things you might want to pray about. You are encouraged to pray in your own words, but there are words to guide those who are uncertain. A great app for those new to prayer or struggling with prayer!
“Pray As You Go” is an app created to help those who struggle to find quiet time to pray. It’s ideal for commuters or anyone who would benefit from a guided prayer time. Each session is 10-13 minutes long, linking music, Bible reading, and some reflective questions to help guide your prayers. It’s a bit like being in a monastery without leaving your seat.
“Inner Room” is an app created by 24-7 Prayer. The main feature is you can set up your own prayer notice board. You can choose what you want to pray for and keep track of your prayers. Helpful for times when you need to be reminded that God does indeed answer prayer! You can ask the app to remind you each day at a specific time to pray, and the app will audibly guide you through your prayer notice board by reading your prayers out loud. Importantly the app also reminds you to listen to God. Although for me this listening time is not long enough, thankfully I can pause the app when I need to listen longer! The app also has ‘#Prayfor’ items that you can use to guide your prayers and ‘Prayer Ideas’ to inspire your prayers.
“Read Scripture” is an app from Crazy Love Ministries that partners with the Bible Project. Each day you are offered a section of scripture to read, along with a Psalm to pray with. When starting a new book of the Bible, you can view one of the excellent Bible Project videos that in easy terms explain what the major themes of each book. This app allows you to set up a daily reminder at a time of your choosing to encourage you to develop reading into a habit. Helpfully you can also choose the font size that works best for you.
