In Sunday Club we focus on providing a welcoming and enjoyable experience for children of all ages.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the beginning of each Sunday morning service in the Sanctuary upstairs, and then a team of Sunday Club leaders invite the children to join them in the halls downstairs for singing, stories, games and craft activities. We have a wide variety of toys available to help our Leaders entertain babies and toddlers!
Parents are welcome to accompany their children and join in the fun, but all Leaders have appropriate DBS checks and are fully prepared to care for babies and children. This enables parents to appreciate the opportunity to worship with other adults while their children enjoy activities appropriate for their age and interests.
We do not present a formally structured curriculum, but follow a basic theme for each term which gives us a framework to introduce children to Bible stories and Christian values using a wide range of resources. We aim to create displays for the boards which advertise what we do to all Church users.
Sunday Club has been busy creating a display for one of the window ledges in the church. It illustrates the Christmas Carol ‘Angels from the realms of glory’. Can you find it?
1st December will be the first Sunday in Advent, so the first Advent Candle will be lit.
Sunday Club will be making laminated bookmarks to give as gifts during the Nativity Service.
8th December will be our Nativity and Gift Service. This year it is called ‘Follow that star!’
Everyone is invited to join in, and there will be games, songs and activities to tell the Christmas story.
Children can dress up if they wish – angels, shepherds and kings will all be featuring in the service.
Everyone will be choosing an angel, shepherd or king to make a simple ‘sticker on a stick’ character to use during the service, so dressing up is an optional extra!
There will be a collection of items for Loaves and Fishes Foodbank during the service.
15th December will include a puzzle about making a Christmas list.
In the afternoon it will be our Carol Service, and we would like to invite any children who would be interested to play handbells and join in with a small choir to sing two songs.
We hope to practise during Sunday Club sessions, but there will be other times arranged where possible.
Saturday 21st will be the Christmas Fun morning, so all are welcome to join in. Many of you have already agreed to help – thank you!
Sunday 22nd will be the last Sunday before Christmas Day, and we will be looking at the Christmas story in a different way.
Looking forward to seeing you all during this exciting time of the year!
