History & Belief

The United Reformed Church is the only cross-denominational union in Great Britain since the Reformation in the 16th Century. It was formed in 1972 by the union of the Congregational Church in England & Wales and the Presbyterian denominations. It was joined in 1961 by the Churches of Christ, and in 2000 by the Scottish Congregational Church.

What we believe

We believe in God, who loves and cares for us all, whatever our life story, age or background. We are all part of His family.

As Jesus Christ taught us to do, we will show the love of God, His compassion and healing in working and caring together for our community in Sevenoaks.

We believe we will grow in God’s love.

An Invitation

If you are interested in taking a journey in search of a fuller understanding of God, His purpose for your life, and His example in Jesus Christ, then we would be delighted for you to come on board and walk this path of exploration with us.

Our Church Name

Historically, especially prior to 1972, we were locally known as the “Church on the Hill’, based on our prominent position. In order to avoid confusion with our friends at St John the Baptist Parish Church, lower down St Johns Hill, although we use that old name again, as well as our formal name, we always try to include a photo to help identify ourselves!
