Our major outreach projects

Local

We strongly support local initiative Loaves N’Fishes, a local food bank, run from the premises of our nearby Anglican church, St John the Baptist, for which we have weekly collections as well as extras at harvest and Christmas. For more information click here .

Overseas

We have direct links with a project in India, Help for Helpless.

The Help for Helpless – Help Trust is an Indian registered leprosy charity and we, at St Johns Hill, are one of the few UK churches involved in providing monetary support. Leprosy is claimed by the Indian government to be no longer a problem; seemingly the number of new confirmed cases is fractionally below the level which the WHO would define as being problematic. However many believe that as they only apparently count new cases identified at State hospital and ignore those found by the still considerable number of former Christian mission hospitals the number of new cases is in excess of 200,000pa, well above the WHO limit.

Throughout the year, we as a church support the following

  • Commitment for Life
  • SAYT
  • Christian Aid through bucket collection
  • West Kent Area Mind
